These three words can be the saviour of any Weight Watchers member. Naughty treats on offer and you haven't the points to spare? Someone trying to tempt you with yummy things that you shouldn't really indulge in because they're a trigger food?
Well, here I am to tell you that you can also utilise them against good-for-you food that will do you good, too!
That Sweetie I bought, that I mentioned in the last blog post? A kind of grapefruit. I didn't realise that before I peeled it. The peel was a good quarter to half an inch thick, and then there was a thick pith that had to be picked out from between the segments and from the top of them. By the time I'd done that, the citric acid from the peel had stripped one layer of skin from my hands and I was breaking out in dermatitis patches. I washed my hands five or six times, and they were still burning. Luckily for me, it did calm down eventually, but my hands are definitely a little irritated still.
I ate half and threw the rest in the bin! I shouldn't have grapefruit as it interferes with the calcium channel blocker I take to lower my blood pressure, but as it was a couple of hours before I was due to take it I figured it couldn't hurt.
Today should include a trip to the Commissary. I will be keeping an eye out for the WW American desserts (Smart Balance? Smart something, anyway.) I try not to have too much in the way of convenience food, but the occasional treat is good for you in terms of keeping you on track! Hopefully there will still be coleslaw veggies in ready-prepared packs, and chopped fresh pineapple. Clementines and Granny Smiths, Braeburn apples if they have them. Yummy! I am not a huge fan of fruit, but this is the sort of fruit I can cope with. Of course I love berries, but in season. I do sometimes have frozen berries, but not all that often.
Here's an idea - if I haven't already shared it - for a really yummy and fast dessert. Take one small pot of fruit-flavoured Quark or fromage frais. Cherry is good. Take one teaspoon of cocoa powder. Mix cocoa powder into cheese. Gorgeous! Try it, it really is!
There may be a meal out tonight; there may not. If not, I shall make my own Spaghetti Carbonara. I love to eat that, and does the OH.
I'm full of hope for the week ahead, and excitement over the introduction of the new plan in a week's time!
