Ah - that's better!

Feeling much better today. Slept well again, and had no compunctions about going straight back to bed after sorting out the OH first thing.

Drove over to Karlsruhe this afternoon to catch up with a friend and do some running around. Had a package to collect, then my friend wanted to drop off a couple of computers to another friend of his.

The drive home in the dusk and dark was interesting. The German language does not have a word for 'tailgating'. So, as we say around here, 'You won't find tailgating in the dictionary, just on the Autobahn'. This means you must rapidly become used to people driving about six inches off your rear bumper at approximately 110 mph.

Today most of the roads I travelled were a max 120 kmh (about 75 mph) so nice and sedate. Not. Speed limits are taken as being advisory rather than mandatory around here (provided you know where the speed cameras are likely to be.) In the rush hour traffic, in deepening gloom, this is Not Fun. Especially when a very large lorry swooshes in front of you with nary a flick of an indicator. Doing 35 mph when everyone else is nearer 90 mph.

And, they do exactly the same come rain or shine. 11.30 pm, pouring rain so hard the wipers barely clear the screen, they are still at it.

You really do learn how to drive defensively, when you live in Germany!
