Quin (aka Quinley Dooooooood) is five months old today! He is already very fluffy, but won't have his full coat for another year or more. Norwegian Forest cats don't reach their full growth for five years, so he is going to grow a lot more. He is already about the size of most of our other three, albeit a little skinnier.
When I first brought he and his half-brother (and uncle!) Roxy home, the two of them fitted in the one cat carrier. A week later, I took them to the vet to have a check up and for the vet to meet them, and it was a bit of a squeeze!
They've been with us for two months already, but it feels like they've been with us forever. They're adorable little monkeys, full of energy, constantly playing (when not eating or sleeping) and endlessly entertaining. It's hard to be blue when you have two kittens rampaging around the house!
Our three old girls are 10, 15 and anywhere from 12 to 15 (she was abandoned so we don't really know.) The 10 year old, Kit, thinks she's one of the kittens and tries to join in their games. The other two are rather more sedate, but do tolerate the kittens. Wanda lets them play with her tail.
Roxy turns five months on Sunday; he was the runt of both litters and has had some catching up to do. He's almost there already. He was only three quarters the weight of the other kittens and about three quarters the size. Today he is nearly as big as Quin and wins their wrestling matches quite often. His coat is coming in now, but not as fast as Quin's. Roxy has a much smoother coat still, although he has his knickerbockers and a squirrelly tail. His ruff and bib are only just coming in. And for some reason, one of his whiskers is coming through black at the bottom! (He's cream tabby, almost red but not quite.)
This morning, though, he was not in favour. Somehow he managed to get a big lump of **** stuck to his tail! I managed to get the worst of it off in a paper hanky, but he scratched me good while chasing the hanky. It ended with me holding him round his middle with one hand while sticking his tail under the tap and soaping it up with the other, then keeping him still long enough to rinse out the soap. His new nickname is now Turdtail. Poor guy!
