I had a fantastic loss last week, four and a quarter pounds. That's the biggest drop I've had for quite some time, probably since the first few weeks.

As such, I suspected that quite a lot of it was going to be water weight or something like that. It seems to me that my body takes a while to adjust as the weight begins to drop, and I have a habit of wobbling around losing a pound, gaining a pound, losing a pound and a half, gaining a pound. For the last twelve weeks, though, it had all been down down down.

So I was not at all surprised to discover that I had a half pound gain this week. Annoyed, but not surprised. I haven't over eaten - I've pointed and tracked everything and had 10 and a half points left over at the end of the week which I chose not to eat. (It seems silly to have all those points on Friday night when I have to weigh myself the next morning!)

TOTM has just finished, so I suspect that that may have a lot to do with it. I can feel that I've retained a bit of fluid this last couple of days as my fingers are a little bit podgier.

I'm not in the least discouraged. Once upon a time I would have been, and this would have made me pig out and totally come off the rails. Not this time around, though. I know that this is just a blip, just some trick of my body and that it isn't a sign I am starting to gain the blubber back again.

Today I am heading over to Oftersheim to see my friend Marilyn and her husband and two boys. I haven't seen her since the beginning of August as she's training to be a kindergarten teacher and is in school or at nursery five days a week, and our weekends are usually busy. We usually have lunch and then go for a good long walk for an hour or two, so I'm looking forward to that very much.

It's onwards and downwards for me overall, so I am expecting a nice loss this time next week! It's annoying to be in a couple of challenges and not to be able to report a loss this week, but the overall trend is very much down. I want to be in the sixteens in six weeks' time - just into the sixteens will be fine, thanks! Once I get past 17 and a half stone, I will be below six stone away from target, that's my mini goal of the moment. Then I'll be aiming for 16 stone 13 and below.

For those of you who've also gained this week, take heart! It is a blip, and only a blip. The power lies with us to take control and get back to losing. We can do it, and we will!
