Hello. My name is tigs, and I am a pedant.
There are many small things that annoy me. Bad manners, rudeness, cruelty to animals, superior people, that sort of thing, are all what I would term major annoyances, rather than minor.
Minor annoyances include:
(and this is really going to make me unpopular!):
There. That's got that off my chest!
Seriously, though, there are loads of fantastically supportive people on the boards, and I don't really (honestly) care whether they can spell or not. Provided I can understand what they're saying! Odd, though, that on a weight loss site there are so many who confuse loose (the opposite of tight) with lose (if you follow the plan, you will lose weight.)
I used to be a lot more uptight about all of this. First time around as an online member, I avoided the boards for all of these reasons. I just found it so frustrating that I could feel my blood pressure soaring! Now I am that bit older and hopefully a little more laid back, it's not usually a problem.
No, I am not advocating a ban on people who do all or any of the above. And please don't take me too seriously about any of this. It's my problem, not yours. I just seem to have my grumpy knickers on this afternoon.
No, this is not aimed at anyone in particular. Please don't take it personally!
Yes, I used to read dictionaries as a child. And Roget's Thesaurus. I also trained as a journalist and used to sub-edit a fair amount of copy as a trainee doing work experience, when the sub-editor in our office was snowed under. I'm also a recovering solicitor, so pedantry is very much in my nature, sorry to say.
I'm a nice person really, though.
