No, that is not a quote of my own. You are unlikely ever to find me turning up my nose at the mere thought of consuming the weekly 49, whether in edible or liquid form.

I go back and have a read through the comments on my first blog post about the weekly 49 every day; I can't believe how many comments on it there have been! Every so often, someone will pop up and say they never bother with the 49 or with the fifty or sixty activity points they earn every week because they're just not hungry.

I really have trouble getting my head around that. It would take me ten hours of walking at a brisk pace to earn 60 activity points. Not really all that much when you think about it (if I do do Nijmegen this July, I will earn something like 120 activity points over four days. Am I going to eat and drink them? Too bloody right! You think I'm walking four marathons in four days and not eating my activity points, jog on!)

Of course we all different. I accept that. I also accept that I overate quantity-wise for years, and can probably still put away quite a bit more food than many people as a result. Certainly when we go to the Yugoslavian I can polish off a large meal and a couple of beers. Although I don't usually have more than some zero point soup and a bit of fruit the rest of the day, mind you!

I am, I suppose, a bit of a fussy eater. I am also married to an equally fussy eater; I've blogged about the difficulties of that before! (This time, he ate ALL the doughnuts. In two days. Pig. I fancied one this morning and they were all gone!) Thing is, I like what I like, and that's what I eat. I can't imagine not eating my weekly points and using them for things I enjoy, or a bit more dinner. As for exercising for ten hours a week, not my cup of tea. Which I also hate, for the record.

How joyless must existence be, if you exercise as though there's no tomorrow and never eat anything unhealthy? Naturally, if you happen to enjoy living like this, that's fine, no problems with that at all. It just isn't for me. I don't believe I could sustain that for the rest of my life without being quite unhappy. My approach to exercise is somewhat sporadic, but I do try to get some each week. Now that I have a Wii and the Wii Fit Plus, I will be using that regularly as well as going walking.

My old GP back in Retford was of the view that it was necessary to really go all out to build up a good level of fitness that, once achieved, could be maintained. I expressed reservations about running five miles every day due to my sore knees, but he was all for it. I didn't, needless to say. I walked five miles most days instead, or cycled five miles. I enjoy both of those things. I also enjoy running, but my body at the weight I was definitely did not. I'm just about at the weight I was when I started running, so I may have another go at the C25K programme on my iPod and see how I do this time.

Anyway, I wandered off to the Shopette (open 24 hours) on an emergency Hershey bar and doughnut run for the DH and have quite lost my thread, so I shall shut up now!
